According to a study published in Nutrients by Florida State University in 2014, consuming a meal rich in carbohydrates and protein 2 to 4 hours before exercising helps fuel your workout. It’s best to wait about 2 hours after eating before exercising to allow for proper digestion and to avoid nausea, acid reflux, or stomach discomfort.
